R. Martin Chavez, Ph.D., is Vice Chairman and Partner at Sixth Street.
Mr. Chavez currently serves on the fiduciary or advisory boards of Cambrian, Earli, Grupo Santander, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Recursion Pharma, Stanford Medicine, and the Stanford Center on Longevity. He also previously served as President of the Board of Overseers of Harvard University. He is among the most senior Latinos in finance, as well as among the most senior openly gay executives.
Prior to joining Sixth Street, Mr. Chavez served in a variety of senior roles at Goldman Sachs, including Chief Information Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and global co-head of the firm’s Securities Division. Mr. Chavez was also a partner and member of the Goldman Sachs Management Committee. Mr. Chavez was one of the first developers of SecDB, an early platform that transformed the trading business into a software business. He retired from the firm in 2019.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Chavez was the CEO and co-founder of Kiodex, and Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Quorum Software Systems.
He holds an A.B. magna cum laude in Biochemical Sciences and an S.M. in Computer Science from Harvard, and a Ph.D. in Medical Information Sciences from Stanford.
Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2018, Ben was a Vice President with Battery Ventures focused on venture capital & growth equity investments in the internet and software space. Previously, he was a Senior Equity Research Associate at Rutberg & Company and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Chemistry from Duke University.

Mike is a Partner of Sixth Street and Co-Head of Sixth Street Growth. Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2018, Mike was a Managing Director in AmSSG at Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 2004. From 2013 through 2018, he was co-head of PCI, AmSSG’s preferred equity, growth capital business. Prior to co-heading PCI, Mike worked in AmSSG’s Multi-Strategy Investing Group and Specialty Lending Group. Before joining AmSSG in 2006, he worked in Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research Division. Mike received a B.B.A. in Finance and Business Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2002.
Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2019, Vishva was an Associate at Harvest Partners in the Structured Capital Fund, a group dedicated to non-control, structured equity investments. Prior to Harvest Partners, Vishva worked in the investment banking division of Lincoln International where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, special situations, and capital raises across multiple sectors. He graduated with honors and distinction from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Finance.
Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2018, Lee was a Vice President at TA Associates, a global growth private equity firm where he focused on healthcare investments. Prior to TA Associates, Lee worked in the Global Healthcare Investment Banking group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mr. Stanley is a Partner of Sixth Street and Co-Head of Sixth Street Growth, which is the firm’s platform for providing customized, non-control private capital for growth-oriented companies. Mr. Stanley focuses on originating transactions in the software, payment systems, data infrastructure and business services sectors. Representative portfolio companies include AvidXchange, Kaseya, Lucidworks, PayScale and SmartDrive. Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2011, Mr. Stanley was with Wells Fargo Capital Finance, where he served in multiple roles providing specialized financing to companies throughout the U.S. and Canada. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Maine.
Jeffrey Stone leads Sixth Street’s team focused on providing strategic growth advice to management teams and founders. Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2022, Mr. Stone led four sponsor-backed companies as CEO: Arrowstream, a leader in supply chain software solutions for multi-unit restaurants; Compeat, a provider of restaurant management software; MarketTools, a provider of software and services for market research and enterprise feedback management; and Tiburon, a leader in public safety and security software. Prior to those roles, he worked at Morgan Stanley and GE, and he began his career as an initial member of two IdeaLab Ventures companies, KornFerry Futurestep and Citysearch. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.

Alan Waxman is Co-Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Sixth Street.
Founded in 2009, Sixth Street manages $60 billion in assets with over 350 team members including more than 180 investment professionals around the world. Sixth Street uses its long-term flexible capital, data-enabled capabilities, and One Team culture to develop themes and offer solutions to companies across all stages of growth.
Prior to co-founding Sixth Street, Mr. Waxman was a Partner at Goldman Sachs and Chief Investment Officer of its largest proprietary investing business. Sixth Street continues an investment philosophy Mr. Waxman and Sixth Street’s founding partner group began developing over 20 years ago while building complementary businesses to invest Goldman’s capital in public and private markets across the capital structure in companies, assets, and idiosyncratic opportunities. At Goldman, Mr. Waxman founded and led private capital investing franchises in growth capital solutions, direct lending, and alternative energy infrastructure, among others, as well as in public markets multi-strategy investing. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1998.
Mr. Waxman is a Founding LP and Strategic Advisor to Concrete Rose, an early stage investment platform deploying financial and social capital to underrepresented founders of color. Mr. Waxman and other Sixth Street team members began advising Concrete Rose leadership on the firm’s formation in 2018 and Sixth Street is a Founding Strategic Partner.
Mr. Waxman holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves on the Board of Overseers for the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences. He is a Board Member Emeritus for Tipping Point Community and serves on the Advisory Council for the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, which are both focused on fighting poverty and inequality of opportunity in the San Francisco Bay Area.

John joined Sixth Street as Senior Advisor in 2018 with a focus on partnering with portfolio company CEOs and management teams to address strategic and operational issues associated with growth.
John brings a 30-year track record of innovation, vision and execution in creating successful businesses. As a multi-time CEO, John raised over $100 million and created over $1.5 billion in shareholder value in partnership with 12 financial sponsors. He’s also served as chairman, non-executive chairman, or director on over 25 boards, including Regulatory DataCorp (RDC) where he served alongside Michael McGinn, Co-Head of Sixth Street’s Capital Solutions business.
He was previously a Managing Director at Bain Capital Ventures, chairman and CEO of M|C Communications, President and CEO of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), and held several senior positions at IBM. While at IBM, John was responsible for leading the integration program that brought together 70,000 PWCC and IBM professionals from across 56 countries to create the IBM Business Consulting Group. John also founded two companies, Mainspring, Inc. and Course Technology. Mainspring was established in 1996, and grew from a startup to a publicly traded company that was ultimately purchased by IBM in June 2001. Prior to Mainspring, John founded Course Technology, which was sold to the Thomson Corporation.
